Made individually by twelve members of SEAT (Seattle Experimental Animation Team) these thought-provoking films reflect on love, insanity, faith and murder.

Uranium - Is it a Country, film and debate 2-5pm

Film and debate about the pros and cons of nuclear energy. The film shows the dirty side of so-called 'clean' nuclear energy. Where uranium comes from,where it goes to and what is left behind. The film takes us to Australia to the world's largest uranium mine and to Europe where this source of 'clean energy' is a gold mine for the energy corporations. The film will be followed by speakers for and against nuclear power. Organised by Medact, an organisation of health professionals tackling the roots of conflict.

Drawing the Cinema

A daytime event, using the cinema and bar, as part of 'the big draw' : its aims being quite simply to encourage people to draw. Projected drawing in the cinema, collaborative comic making and large-scale participatory stuff. Details will be confirmed nearer the time, but this will be an event using the full cinema, involving lots of our creative and crafty local auteurs in full-on messing about. Join us! Donations to cover costs only.

Canny Little library

The Canny Little Library is the best library in the star and shadow/ city / uk for books, zines and pamphlets with a focus on titles with a more critical stance towards the society we live in and not available in most regular libraries/ bookshops. The collection includes graphic novels, art, feminism, queer, gender, lgbt, politics, sex, health, relationships, DIY, anarchism, philosophy, global struggles, science, nature and environment, worker's struggles, history, prison struggles, cookery, anti-racism and information for action. All titles are available to browse and borrow for free. The Star and Shadow also houses a large collection of film, photography and theatre books available for browsing and reference.
