A three day event celebrating USSR culture will take place on Friday July 25 from 7:30pm at the Star and Shadow Cinema in Newcastle upon Tyne. Visitors will not only be able to feast on a range of typical Russian food, including some of the country’s delicacies, a Soviet dance troupe will provide entertainment while others can view an exhibition of Soviet old-timers: a real life Moskvich 408, a car made in USSR in 1966 that stars in the film 'Mrs. Ratcliffe's Revolution', and the legendary ‘Ushastik’ – big eared Zaporojets ZAZ 968, a car made in USSR in 1971. Film: Mrs Ratcliffe's Revolution (2007)

Part of the MADE IN USSR event. Based on a true story about a family from Yorkshire who defect to East Germany for a life of Marxist utopia behind the Iron Curtain…? The first screening of Mrs Ratcliffe's Revolution will be at 3pm, followed by a Q&A with two stars of the film - Brittany Ashworth (Alex Ratcliffe) and Nigel Betts (Uncle Philip). And if you can't make that screening, we will be showing it again at 7.30pm as part of a more social affair! Come along, hang out, join in and have fun!
