Event: Canny Little Library

The Canny Little Library is the best library in the star and shadow/ city / uk for books, zines and pamphlets with a focus on titles with a more critical stance towards the society we live in and not available in most regular libraries/ bookshops. The collection includes graphic novels, art, feminism, queer, gender, lgbt, politics, sex, health, relationships, DIY, anarchism, philosophy, global struggles, science, nature and environment, worker's struggles, history, prison struggles, cookery, anti-racism and information for action. All titles are available to browse and borrow for free. The Star and Shadow also houses a large collection of film, photography and theatre books available for browsing and reference. From the distant past to the present day, ordinary people have come together and taken action to create better lives for their communities and for the wider world. Join us to look into 'Wor Story' - a weekend of films, exhibits and workshops exploring just a few of the many inspiring stories, amazing events and successes in the struggle against exploitation and inequality. Learn and be inspired by talks, discussions, workshops, books, info- stalls and food! With films, discussions and exhibitions on equal pay, the poll tax, miner's strike and more… Plus the launch of Wor Diary 2012, Newcastle's own participatory rebellious diary!
