The English Language Conversation Group is a weekly event at the Star and Shadow for all people who want to meet and practice speaking English. It is an informal group and new people - volunteers to help people practice speaking English or learners to see what the group is like - are always welcome. The group is inclusive and travel expenses can be paid for if necessary.

Film: Docs At Sea: The Fishing Industry

Event: Poetry Night With Paul Farley

The acclaimed poet Paul Farley will give a reading and discuss the importance of popular music in his work, in a talk entitled “Three Minute Singles: Pop Poems”. This event is programmed as part of the conference on Writing and Popular Music, held at Northumbria University on 24 June.
