In 1936, Nazi propaganda urges German Alpinists to enter a competition to conquer the unclimbed north face of the Swiss massif, the Eiger.  The infamous Murder Wall awaits two reluctant climbers, Toni Kurz and Andi Hinterstoisser, but it is not nationalism that drives them to their daring ascent. Mostly filmed in the actual locations Kurz and Hinterstoisser scaled, taught direction combines with stunning  hand-held camera-work to create a suspenseful visual spectacle.
