A night of Yuletide themed songs and pagan merriment

Following the success of our Oktoberfest Drinking Songs night, we're going to celebrate the season with a cast of amazing folky talent at Cool Yule at the Star and Shadow.

Leading off the evening will be crowd favourite Rebecca Jones, her voice described by Ireland's Hotpress as "fantastic … somewhere between folk singer and drama queen".

Northern Europe influences: Krista Puranen and Nathalie Stern

From the Pagan north of Europe, Krista Puranen will sing traditional Karelian and Finnish Joul songs while "one woman Swedish folk choir" Nathalie Stern will more than match her with Christmas songs from Abba-land.

Byker Mummers

As if that's not enough, there'll be an appearance by the Byker Mummers (and if you've not seen the Mummers, imagine League of Gentlemen doing a nativity play) and DJ Potra Poika.
