Event: Talk By Polly Higgins On Eradicating Ecocide

In March 2010 international barrister and award winning author Polly Higgins proposed to the United Nations that Ecocide be made the fifth Crime Against Peace. There are currently four Crimes Against Peace: genocide, war crimes, crimes of aggression and crimes against humanity. Ecocide is the missing fifth crime – it is a crime against humanity, against current and future generations, and against all life on Earth.

The Canny Little Library stocks books, zines and pamphlets with a focus on titles with a more critical stance towards the society we live in and not available in most regular libraries/ bookshops. The collection includes graphic novels, art, feminism, queer, gender, lgbt, politics, sex, health, relationships, DIY, anarchism, philosophy, global struggles, science, nature and environment, worker's struggles, history, prison struggles, cookery, anti-racism and information for action. All titles are available to browse and borrow for free. The Star and Shadow also houses a large collection of film, photography and theatre books available for browsing and reference.
