SOME FACTS ABOUT JEZEBEL
Bette Davis won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in this film and credited William Wyler for making her a box-office success. It is reported that the scene where Bette Davis lifts her skirt with her riding crop took 45 takes!
Despite the comparisons, JEZEBEL was filmed and released a year before GONE WITH THE WIND.
The red dress sequence is based on a real social event in Hollywood. The wonderful Norma Shearer turned up to a white-dress ball, where all the women dutifully wore white, in red.
The infamous red dress was actually bronze in colour because bronze shows up better than red in black and white.
