A series of classic and provocative films giving a taste of how lesbians have been represented on the big screen from 1968 to the present.  The audience is warmly invited to stay for post-film discussions considering how far we have come with representing lesbians on screen.  Have we made progress?

This series of screenings has been organised by Dr Jackie Collins and Dr Julie Scanlon from Northumbria University, and Northumbria University is supporting the season.

Film: Bound (1996)

Fun and sexy crime caper in which Corky (Gina Gershon), a lesbian ex con working in an apartment as a plumber, meets neighbours Caesar (Joe Pantoliono) and Violet (Jennifer Tilly). The two women have a love affair and decide to steal $2,000,000 that Caesar is keeping for his Mafia boss.

Film: Ghosted (2009)

A mysterious love story between Hamburg and Taipeh. Sophie (Inga Busch) is an artist who falls in love with Ai-Ling (Huan-Ru Ke), who had moved to Hamburg to gain more information about her father.
