Underground Screen Action

to
A tiny selection of films unearth themselves from the American underground and hop across the pond to the Star and Shadow…
Check out the the individual film descriptions, but we've tried to cover plenty of bases: horror, sci-fi rock and roll, old and new films, sexual politics, comedy… Behind the trashy front these films show, there lies a serious subversive intent.
Situationism and satire aimed striaght at that amorphous beast which dominates the American image: Hollywood.
It's a big, easy target ripe for attack because it takes itself so seriously whilst being incredibly silly and American conscious artists have, since the fifties at least, always had a brilliant way of responding to it and getting things done in general.
Mostly these films are just to enjoy though for their sex and their sass, they're also to be admired for their DIY energy.
See you on Sunday at the S&S.
