Truly a masterpiece and like all great works of art it is not easy.
The story concerns a town in which the master glass maker is searching for the formula to make "ruby glass" which has been lost after the previous master died unexpectedly.
The whole film, co-written by the extraordinary Herbert Achternbusch is richly steeped in alegory and a mythology unique to it's own universe. Herzog claims the cast performed all their scenes under hypnosis.
