Stroszek (1977)

Part of the W. Herzog Film Season

Director: W. Herzog
Certificate: BBFC 15
Format: 35mm
Language: German

Bruno is an alcoholic. He walks out of jail into the first bar and immediately gets into trouble.

He's a character worthy of Lars Von Trier's 'golden heart' trilogy, you immediately fall in love with his lack of affectation or ill will towards anybody.

The film follows his search for the American dream and it's inevitable collapse. An utterly brilliant film.

Other films in the W. Herzog Film Season:

Film: Even Dwarfs Started Small (1970)

11 Jan 2009, 7:30 p.m.

This must be Herzog's most controversial film. Set in an unidentified institution a rebelion has taken place and anarchy reigns supreme.

Film: Heart Of Glass (Herz Aus Glas) (1976)

15 Jan 2009, 7:30 p.m.

Truly a masterpiece.

Film: Aguirre, Wrath Of God (1972)

22 Jan 2009, 7:30 p.m.

The season wouldn't be complete without a film starring the inimitable Klaus Kinski. The most famous of W. Herzog films. T ranscendent.

Film: Two Documentaries About W. Herzog (1980 And 1982)

23 Jan 2009, 7:30 p.m.

Two documentaries about Werner Herzog: Burden of Dreams (Les Blank, 1982) and Werner Herzog Eats his Shoe (Les Blank, 1980).
